Prime Nylon 6 Prices are up $.35 - $.37/lb. in the first 4 months of 2010!

The price of prime nylon 6 fiber and engineering base resins is going up another $.09//lb. on April 1, 2010. BASF has announced a $.09/lb. price increase effective April 1st, and we expect the other North American nylon 6 manufactures to follow with their own material price increases. The April 1 increase should move the price of fiber grade chips closer to where the suppliers want to see prime nylon 6 prices, based on their current cost of benzene and capro feedstocks.

Dualloy has seen the price of prime PA 6 fiber pellets and engineering resins increase between $.35- $.37/lb. since the beginning of 2010. Depending on where you buy your prime material, either from BASF or Honeywell, you have probably seen some of the following prime PA6 price increases listed below for 2010.

BASF 12/1/2009 - $.10/lb., 2/1/2010 - $.12/lb., 3/1/2010 - $.06/lb., 4/1/2010 - $.09/lb.
Honeywell 1/1/2010 - $.10/lb., 2/1/2010 - $.14/lb., 3/1/2010 - $.06/lb., 4/1/2010 - $.10/lb.

LyondellBasell is pleased to announce that effective on April 1, 2010, they are lifting the January 22, 2010 force majeure declaration for its polypropylene copolymer and random copolymer products. They have fully recovered from the outages they were having at the plant in Lake Charles, and expect to be able to meet all of their customers production and delivery needs.
